Master the concept. Then AL1 follows.
Primary Math & Science in East Coast, taught the way an ex-MOE teacher of 25 years always wished it was: concept first, in classes of five, until it truly clicks for your child.
- Ex-MOE founder & tutors
- Max 5 children per class
- Primary 1 to 6, Math & Science
Every subject sits in a fixed band. And one mark can decide which one.
The PSLE no longer ranks your child against the cohort. Each subject is graded against fixed benchmarks, from AL1 at the top down to AL8. Your child is measured on what they have genuinely understood, and nothing else.
That is fairer, and in one way kinder. But look at the very top of the table. AL1 begins at 90. AL2 ends at 89. One careless slip on a question your child actually knew, and a whole band goes with it.
This is why we do not chase marks. We build the concept underneath them, so every answer is understood rather than guessed, and the grade is never left balanced on a single mark.
- AL1 90 to 100 marks The top band
- Just one mark · 89 → 90
- AL2 85 to 89 marks One mark below the line
- AL3 80 to 84 marks
- AL4 75 to 79 marks
